Really fun pub. The atmosphere is like a time capsule. The jazz is some of the best live music around, with a 6-instrument multigenerational band that is extremely talented. They play 9:30-late on Fridays and Saturdays, and at 8:30 on Fridays.
Note that it’s cash only.
Came here for the live jazz. Super fun experience.
The only downsides were that the bar was cash only, one bartender who gave different prices with every order and it was unheated, so everyone was in jackets.
So dress warm and bring cash!
Last one of today’s wee tour, a strange place which no doubt has its fans, but ‘cash only’ and a limited beer selection didn’t endear. Nice canal side location but the outside space is shared with the car park. #18 #31
Live jazz on Fri and Sat at 21:30 and Sunday at 20:00.
Cash-only (absolutely no card).
Amazing jazz pub, very authentic East Ldn experience. Wonderfully taken Guiness. Music is just perfect!
A unique time capsule pub - nothing changed since 1977. Clearly a local boozer but Kerry the landlady couldn't be friendlier to all visitors. Live music from Friday to Sunday evenings so no doubt that's the best time to come.
Just one word of warning - it's cash only, so make sure you bring some so you don't miss out.
Staff at this pub are extremely rude. They will not give you a glass of tap water which is unhelpful and against the licensing act too I believe. Instead offer a plastic bottle - because we don’t have enough plastic but I guess they are deliberately living under a rock. I don’t find the cash only rule charming either, it’s just annoying and seems like an empty quest of authenticity but people will harp on about this making it a time capsule. It’s certainly not a time capsule when you look at the prices of drinks anyway. I rarely write bad reviews, but this was such an unpleasant experience and an expensive one at that. Will not be going back here under any circumstances.
It's so authentic. Really good jazz and beers. It's cash only and a bit waiting to order but it's worth it.
Beautiful old pub of 350+ years old. Very authentic. Warm atmosphere, in the weekends there’s live music.
